The issue that gave rise to this thesis "The textual skills of students in higher education in Mozambique: the contribution of interacionismo sóciodiscursivo (ISD) to improve the textual productions in UEM" result from a merger between Education component and Text Theory. It aims to understand how textual skills of students in higher education can be improved, taking into account the historical conditions of formation of the higher education system in Mozambique. Because it is a research on educational matter that follows a socio-historical line and comparative perspective, its object is based on the following questions: (i) How the mass education system is organized in Mozambique? (ii) How the higher education supply behaved from the colonial period to the present in Mozambique? (iii) What has been the role of international organizations in education supply relative to higher education (polytechnic and university) in Mozambique? (iv) How Mozambican higher education system is integrated into Africa sub-Saharan? (v) How the transition historical process interfered with student learning? (vi) What are the problems that affect the Mozambican higher education related to learning? (vii) what is the textual production level of higher education students? (viii) How does the ISD, as epistemological chain, may contribute to the current state of textual production in Eduardo Mondlane University? To give answers to these questions, we used a qualitative nature of research based on documents analysis and interpretation techniques, observation based on direct data collection, based on interview techniques and conducting survey. Within this framework, through the socio historical approaches and comparative education, seeks to study the education development process in Mozambique with special focus on higher education. Also seeks on learning, to demonstrate the problematic of student’s textual productions. Therefore, it is suggested the ISD, an epistemological chain that argues that texts reflect the social practices and allow also develop students' language ability taking into account the social context.
