O principal objetivo deste relatório é descrever e problematizar o trabalho desenvolvido durante o estágio na empresa Eurologos. As principais atividades centraram-se na tradução técnico-científica, na tradução jurídica e na tradução de marketing.
Aliando a experiência em estágio ao desenvolvimento de uma perspetiva crítica quanto aos Estudos de Tradução, este trabalho procura ainda refletir e analisar até que ponto a língua inglesa influencia a língua portuguesa, na área da tradução jurídica, visto que a língua inglesa se destaca em termos de poder e influência no mundo, na atual era da globalização.
Para concretizar estes objetivos, o relatório é estruturado em quatro partes nas quais: (1) descreve-se a experiência em estágio, focando-se na metodologia de trabalho da empresa, nos projetos realizados e dificuldades resultantes, (2) sistematiza-se, de forma crítica, a literatura relevante sobre a expansão da língua inglesa no mundo, na Europa e em Portugal e o seu papel atualmente, (3) discute-se a tradução jurídica, identificando caraterísticas do texto jurídico inglês e português e, por fim, (4) regista-se a presença ou ausência de interferências do inglês como língua franca, tendo como corpus textos jurídicos traduzidos para português europeu durante o estágio na empresa Eurologos.
Da análise conclui-se que existe uma certa tolerância à influência da língua inglesa na língua portuguesa. Porém, simultaneamente, sendo a criação de um texto inteligível para o leitor português, com caraterísticas do texto jurídico português, um dos objetivos das traduções realizadas, verificou-se casos de distanciamento da língua de partida no texto de chegada.
The main goal of this report is to describe and problematize the work carried out during the internship at Eurologos. The main activities focused on technical-scientific translation, legal translation and marketing translation. Combining the internship’s experience with the development of a critical perspective on Translation Studies, this work also seeks to reflect and analyze the influence of the English language on the Portuguese language in the area of legal translation, since English stands out in terms of power and influence in the world, in the current era of globalization. In order to achieve these objectives, the report is structured in four parts: (1) the internship’s experience is described, focusing on the work methodology of the company, the projects carried out and the resulting difficulties, (2) relevant literature on the expansion of the English language in the world, Europe and Portugal, as well as its current role, is critically systematized, (3) legal translation is discussed, identifying characteristics of the English and Portuguese legal texts, and finally (4) the presence or absence of interferences of English as a lingua franca in legal texts translated into European Portuguese during the internship at Eurologos is reported. From the analysis, it is concluded that there is a certain tolerance to the influence of the English language on the Portuguese language. However, at the same time, being the creation of an intelligible text for the Portuguese reader, with characteristics of the Portuguese legal text, one of the aims of the produced translations, the analysis shows some examples of target-oriented translation solutions.
