The present work intends to analyze how the urban civic movements, that arise from the logic of the university experiences, collaborate for the urban and social transformations. To understand this question, the work will focus on two urban civic movements that emerged from university experiences in two different cities, in order to verify how the action of these urban civic movements collaborate for the political management of territories and appropriation of people in space developing dynamics that generate diversity, vitality, and quality of urban life. The work proposes to study an urban civic movement in Portugal, the Association Locals Approach (which was born in the Faculty of Architecture of Lisbon) and another in Brazil, Curiar (Model Office of Architecture and Urbanism - EMAU - Faculty of Architecture of UFBA). In this context, the concept of urbanity will be worked out as a consequence of the relationships between social and spatial (NETTO 2012) based on people's experience in the public space (generating quality of life), urban transformation, collaborative interventions and civic movement urban, understood through the eyes of Oriol Nel-lo (2015), when it clarifies that these are movements that have as main objective the transformation of the city to the benefit of disadvantaged social groups. In turn, it will analyze the social, economic and political contexts of each chosen urban movement, raising questions about the production of scientific and technical knowledge that the university fosters, and how this production of knowledge is reflected in urban politics and society.
