Resumo(s)
O presente trabalho reporta-se ao estudo de crânios humanos e de outros ossos da cabeça que evidenciam práticas cirúrgicas ou de uso cultual, durante o Neolítico. Efetuou-se o levantamento dos testemunhos conhecidos no atual território português, fazendo-se o estudo antropológico e enquadramento contextual. Descrevem-se casos de trepanação de diferentes tipos, discos e placa craniana, assim como máscaras, obtidas a partir dos ossos do rosto.
Conclui-se que tais práticas se encontravam disseminadas durante o Neolítico Final, com maior expressão na região costeira do atual território nacional, reportando-se a diferentes causas e com resultados diversos.
The present thesis reports to the study of the human skulls and other bones from the head that shows evidence of chirurgical practices or cult uses, during the Neolithic Period. It was effectuated a survey of all the cases in the actual Portuguese territory, and in all the process, doing the anthropological study and their contextual framework. It was then described the different cases of trepanation, disc and cranial plaque, and the masks, obtained from face bones. It was them concluded that it was a very disseminated practice during the Late Neolithic, with his major expression on the coastal line of the present national territory, recording different approaches and results.
