In the path towards an inclusive society, the Education System plays a key role, following the
premise that if teachers are empowered to address the heterogeneous needs of different students,
these may receive support that matches their needs, preparing them for a self-sufficient future.
Thus, the following research evaluates the Special Needs Students and the teachers’
perspectives, to identify the existent gap between the two groups and how to mitigate it. After
gathering existent best practices, two solutions were proposed, based on an increase in the
number of Special Education Teachers and a more complete qualification for the regular ones.
