Resumo(s)
This individual part of the work focuses on the demand side, or consumers. Through this work,
a better understand could be gained about how individuals in German metropolises and cities
make the choice of their means of transportation and further which factors influence this
choice. Furthermore, it was investigated for which of these factors perceived advantages
regarding the use of either personal cars or alternative means of transportation exist.
It could be found that the most important reasons for individuals to use personal cars lay in
the factors (in this order) reliability, travel time, flexibility, accessibility of destinations and
comfort and privacy. This work shows, which factors need to be improved for alternative
means of transportation in the perception of consumers to reach a natural shift from personal
car use to other means of transportation.
