O presente relatório de estágio tem como objeto o meu estágio na Associação de Defesa de Direitos Humanos, mas também da análise da problemática da SIDA no Quénia. Uma vez que a ONGD que acolheu o estágio desenvolve a sua ação a nível internacional no Quénia, foi este o país escolhido para uma análise a um dos problemas ainda atuais, a SIDA. A discrepância entre as acentuadas reduções de infeções e o número de mortes contrastam com a permanência da discriminação e do estigma. A análise da SIDA é feita relativamente à educação. O que se tenta compreender é se a SIDA funciona, de facto, como obstáculo ao acesso à instrução. A pesquisa assenta no método exploratório-descritivo e conta com dados quantitativos e qualitativos. Este último enriquecido com 10 questionários feitos no Quénia a estudantes seropositivos, que permitiu concluir que a SIDA afeta o acesso à educação direta e indiretamente. O Quénia incumpre na garantia dos direitos da criança pois não assegura que a criança, independentemente da sua condição de saúde, económica ou estrato social frequenta a escola e se sente bem nela.
The present report addresses my internship at the Human Rights´ Defense Association, and also the analysis of the AIDS problematic in Kenya. Since the NGO that hosted the internship develops its action, in an international level, in Kenya, this was the chosen country to analyze one of the still current problems, AIDS. The discrepancy between the strong reduction of infections and deaths, contrasts with the permanence of discrimination and stigma. The analysis of AIDS is carried out with regard to education and what we aim to understand is if AIDS works as a hurdle to have access to education. The research is based in the exploratory-descriptive method and has qualitative and quantitative data. The latter was enriched with 10 questioners, made in Kenya, to HIV positive students and it enabled the conclusion that indeed Kenya fails to guarantee the rights of its children since AIDS affects directly or indirectly children´s access to education. It doesn´t make sure that the child, regardless of his/her health and economic condition or social status attends school and feels comfortable in it.
