Narrativas do Inconsciente: A Auto-Análise Enquanto Processo Criativo do Artista Contemporâneo

A arte contemporânea vê o processo criativo manifestar-se de forma cada vez mais multifacetada, afastando-se da linearidade e da mecanização, o que resulta numa crescente influência na forma de pensar e ver uma obra de arte, bem como um artista, concedida a este processo. Ao assumir uma preponderância da subjectividade ao invés da neutralidade no processo criativo, o artista contemporâneo é conduzido à auto-análise, num fenómeno em que procura ocupar o espaço do espectador perante a sua própria obra, operando complexos mecanismos que visam desvelar e alimentar o seu processo criativo através de impulsos quer conscientes, quer inconscientes. Valoriza-se o aspecto processual da obra de arte, consequentemente retirando do objecto artístico uma responsabilidade de corresponder a um referente ou a intenções concretas e planeadas por parte do seu autor. Pelo contrário, encontra-se agora, na obra, espaço para o autor e para o outro, assim como para as narrativas de ambos, numa liberdade conceptual e interpretativa.
Palpita-se um valor de narratividade associado ao processo criativo, nomeadamente na forma como este frequentemente entrelaça vida e arte. Apelidamos-lhes narrativas do inconsciente por estas só se revelarem ao autor através de processos de auto-análise, uma vez que diversos componentes da criação artística resultam de um processo inconsciente. Exploram-se os sintomas da auto-análise e das narrativas do inconsciente através de casos de estudo de artistas como Henri Matisse, Paul Gauguin, Louise Bourgeois, Carla Rebelo e Charlotte Salomon, entre outros. Manifestando-se a auto-análise preponderantemente através do diálogo entre interior e exterior, apoiada em aspectos empíricos da criatividade artística, percebe-se a importância da utilização deste processo para mulheres artistas, nomeadamente no que diz respeito à criação de um espaço próprio de actuação dentro dos contextos da arte, bem como da afirmação do seu universo pessoal através de obras construídas a partir da sua vida e do seu corpo.
Contemporary art sees the creative process metamorphose into progressively complex manifestations, moving away from its previous linearity and mechanization, which results in an increasing influence over the ways of thinking and seeing an artwork, as well as an artist, bestowed to this process. With subjectivity playing a bigger role for several artists, we witness the manifestation of processes of self-analysis, in a phenomenon in which the artist seeks to become the spectator of their own work, operating complex mechanisms that aim to explore and contribute to their creative process through both conscious and unconscious impulses. The processual aspect of artworks gains a renovated value, taking away from the object the responsibility to correspond to a referent, or even to precise and planned intentions. On the contrary, we now find, in the artwork, space for the author and the other, for the narratives of both, which leads to conceptual and interpretative freedom. A narrative value is attributed to the creative process, noticeably to how it seems to thread life and art together. We call them narratives of the unconscious due to how they frequently only become clear to an author through processes of self-analysis since several components of the creative process function on an unconscious level. The symptoms of self-analysis and the narratives of the unconscious are explored through case studies of artists such as Henri Matisse, Paul Gauguin, Louise Bourgeois, Carla Rebelo and Charlotte Salomon, amongst others. Seeing as self-analysis manifests predominantly through the dialogue between internal and external, with support on the empiric aspects of artistic creativity, the importance of such processes for women artists becomes clear, especially how it aids women to create a space for themselves in the contexts of the art world, and the affirmation of their private world through artworks constructed through their life and body.
