Resumo(s)
Through a comparison between the innovation process in a few departments
of some Portuguese hospitals, this study analyses the nature of typical innovation
processes in the health care area and infer about the factors that facilitate and inhibit
the innovation process in the medical organizations. Aspects related to the team,
structure, efficiency, environment and professional realization were observed as being
likely to facilitate the innovation process. We detected resource constraints,
organizational and environmental factors as likely to be barriers to innovation. This
study argues the dynamic interrelationship between both incentives and barriers in the
health care area.
