This study examines meme engagement on Reddit incorporating sentiment analysis, machine
learning, computer vision, generative AI.
The analysis presented examines the impact of human faces in memes on user engagement,
measured by score, comments, and awards on Reddit. Using Ordinary Least Squares and
Logistic Regression, the presence of faces and specific facial attributes, including size, gender,
and emotional expression are analyzed. Results indicate that while face presence has a
statistically significant effect, its practical impact is minimal. Larger faces negatively affect
engagement, while mixed emotions enhance it. Male faces receive fewer comments, whereas
female faces show no significant difference.
