Resumo(s)
Portugal’s disabled population continues to struggle for independent living. With rates
of both unemployment and discrimination increasing in Portugal, disabled citizens face high
risks of poverty and social exclusion. At the same time companies remain trapped in an
outdated and narrowly version of value creation with main focus on profit per se, while there
is a widely shared perspective that companies are prospering at the expense of the broader
community. This dissertation is constructed under a business case format, with the aim of
assessing the economic and social value added to the business of Randstad, a multinational
Human Resources company, if a business unit merely dedicated to the recruitment of disabled
Portuguese citizens would be created.
