Resumo(s)
This work project investigates the post-hire challenges faced by first-generation professionals
(FGPs) and proposes actionable recommendations for McKinsey Portugal to facilitate their
long-term inclusion and career advancement. Building on the CEMS Business Project focused
on recruitment barriers, the research combines literature review, benchmarking, and qualitative
insights to reveal persistent disadvantages related to cultural fit, informal networks, and support
systems. The study presents a comprehensive set of recommendations, ranging from
onboarding toolkits and affinity groups to data-driven DEI practices, designed to create a more
equitable and empowering workplace for professionals from underrepresented socio-economic
backgrounds.
