In this paper, I analyze the current practices and future trends of industries that employ highly skilled professionals. I use the consulting industry as the recruitment for such industries are commonly rigorous and the consulting industry receives a high number of applications . Interviews of different European consulting players help to understand the reasons behind the current practices and the preparation for future trends. They show that current practices follow the conventional recruitment process of screening, a potential aptitude test, and interview that consists of a personal fit and business case assessment. The future does not look different to the current situation as firms do not show eagerness to change. Subsequently, recommendations are formed for the consulting industry to innovate the recruitment process. The main takeaway is to move away from the conventional case interviews to testing skills directly related to the job through assessments.pt_PT
