Resumo(s)
The main aim of this work project is to examine the importance of forests in the Kyoto
Protocol perspective, paying special attention to the Portuguese case. The Kyoto
Protocol mentions the value of forest as carbon sinks to reach its targets. The present
paper analyses this question by making reference to specific articles of the Protocol, as
well as to related issues such as deforestation in developing countries and the Post
Kyoto situation. The major conclusion reached is that forestry activities, and also forest
management, may contribute to achieve the Kyoto requests.
