O presente relatório tem como objetivo sintetizar e descrever o estágio curricular efetuado na empresa Upwords. O estágio decorreu durante três meses e teve como principal foco a realização de tarefas de pós-edição, localização, tradução e transcriação. A realização deste estágio teve como principal motivação a oportunidade de adquirir experiência no mercado de tradução através da prestação de serviços de tradução a nível profissional.
O funcionamento e a comunicação de uma empresa de tradução tratam-se de áreas de estudo pouco investigadas e desenvolvidas. Nesse sentido, o relatório de estágio aqui apresentado tem como principal objetivo explorar e debater este tema, a partir da perspetiva da tradutora estagiária, tendo em conta a ausência de estudos descritivos desta temática.
Através desta investigação e debate, pretende-se abordar diversos aspetos. Numa fase inicial, o papel da instituição de acolhimento na integração da tradutora estagiária nas dinâmicas da empresa terá uma importância significativa. O facto de o estágio decorrer numa empresa de tradução permitiu que a tradutora estagiária tivesse contacto direto com as cadeias de comunicação e hierarquias existentes. Consequentemente, a comunicação a nível interno e a nível externo será o tema central. A nível interno pretende-se analisar as diferentes hierarquias: direção, vendor management, business development management, gestão de projetos, tradução, revisão e assistência de marketing e o modo como se processa a comunicação entre as mesmas. A nível externo pretende-se explorar o modo como decorre a comunicação com os clientes, os tradutores em regime freelancer, os revisores externos, o consultor externo e os moderadores linguísticos. Os principais aspetos tratados nestas análises relacionam-se com o teor dos assuntos debatidos entre os diferentes elementos internos e externos da empresa e os meios de comunicação utilizados para o efeito.
This report aims to summarise and describe a curricular internship in the translation company Upwords. The internship lasted three months and mainly involved post-editing, localisation, translation and transcreation tasks. The main motivation for this internship was the opportunity to acquire experience in the translation market by providing translation services in a professional level. The functioning and communication of a translation company are underinvestigated and underdeveloped study areas. In this regard, the main aim of the internship report is to explore and discuss this topic from the perspective of the trainee translator considering the lack of descriptive studies focused on this subject area. The main aim of this report is to address various aspects through investigation and debate. At an initial stage, the role of the host institution in the integration of the trainee translator regarding the dynamics of the company will be significantly important. Due to the fact that the internship took place in a translation company, the trainee translator had the opportunity to have direct contact with the existing communication chains and hierarchies. Consequently, the communication at the internal and external level will be stressed. At an internal level, the objective is to analyse the different hierarchies: management, vendor management, business development management, project management, translation, revision and marketing assistance and the way communication between them is processed. At an external level, the objective is to analyse the way communication with clients, freelance translators, external reviewers, the external consultant and language moderators is processed. The main aspects approached are the topics of conversation among the different internal and external elements of the company and the means of communication used.
