Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o desenvolvimento das relações diplomáticas entre Portugal e Espanha no período compreendido entre 1986 e 2018. Contudo, e por virtude de alguns acontecimentos, que são merecedores da nossa atenção e análise, considerou-se importante incluir algumas brevíssimas notas sobre 2019.
A escolha recaiu neste período de tempo por simbolizar um dos momentos mais férteis, positivos e tranquilos, como se pode ler mais adiante, entre estas duas nações do velho continente.
Relembramos que tanto Portugal como Espanha viveram numa ditadura de várias décadas e em tensão constante, tanto por elementos externos como por elementos internos, o que fez com que nem sempre fosse fácil o diálogo e, muito menos, a negociação.
Contudo, desde mediados da década de 80 houve uma metamorfose personificadas através de várias iniciativas e projetos. Foram anos prósperos para ambos países o que faz com que os mesmos se aproximem não só a nível diplomático, mas também económico, social e político.
The purpose of this paper is to analyse the development of diplomatic relations between Portugal and Spain in the period 1986 to 2018. However, due to some events that deserve our attention and analysis, it was considered important to include some very brief notes on 2019. The choice fell in this period because it symbolised one of the most fertile, positive and peaceful moments, as you will read later, between these two European nations. We recall that both Portugal and Spain lived in a dictatorship for several decades and in constant tension, both by external and internal elements, which made it not always easy to dialogue nor to negotiate. However, since the mid-1980s there has been a metamorphosis personified through various initiatives and projects. These were prosperous years for both countries, bringing them closer not only at diplomatic, but also economic, social and political levels.
