Estabelecidas
This dissertation proposes a reading of the novel Directa as an attempt to national selfknowledge. In the introduction, the theoretical and methodological assumptions of this type of reading are exposed. In chapters 1 and 2, we try to demonstrate the meaning of the interpretative movement, describing the “dive” in Portuguese history promoted in Directa. Established the relations between past and present, chapter 3 introduces the theme of the future, seeking to establish the relationship between salvation and national self-knowledge. In conclusion, through the approximation between Directa and Message, we seek, besides placing Nuno Bragança in the lineage of Portuguese authors-interpreters, to define which idea of a future country can be inferred from reading the novel.
