Tendo por base os depoimentos das testemunhas do julgado de Cabeceiras de
Basto, procurámos com a presente dissertação fornecer mais um contributo para a
historiografia portuguesa sobre as inquirições régias dos anos de 1220, 1258, 1288,
1301, 1303/4 e 1307/8, na vertente respeitante aos processos de levantamento destes
inquéritos, desde a sua ordenação ao registo dos seus textos. Pretendemos, com a
análise diacrónica deste conjunto documental, procurar perceber quais as principais
semelhanças e diferenças, inovações e permanências, não só a nível da execução de
todo o processo, como também no que diz respeito às práticas dos inquiridores que o
levavam a cabo. Por fim, aspiramos também com este estudo, a evidenciar a riqueza
documental das inquirições como ferramenta para a elaboração de um retrato diacrónico
de um espaço determinado, neste caso, o julgado de Cabeceiras de Basto, através da
mais tradicional abordagem a esta fonte, plena de informações concernentes à evolução
da sua paisagem, população e organização administrativa.
Based on the written testimonies of the witnesses of the “julgado” of Cabeceiras de Basto, the present study sought to further contribute to the Portuguese historiography on the royal enquiries of the years 1220, 1258, 1288, 1301, 1303/4 and 1307/8, with particular regard to the process of execution of these enquiries since the moment they were decreed to the registration of their texts. We intend, with the diachronic analysis of this sources, to understand the main similarities and differences, innovations and continuities, not only regarding the execution of the whole process, but also concerning the practices of the ones who conducted it. Finally, with this study, we also aim to reinforce the documental value of this kind of source as a mean to elaborate a diachronic portrait of a precise space, such as the “julgado” of Cabeceiras de Basto, through a more traditional approach to the enquiries, with plenty of information concerning the evolution of its landscape, population and organization administrative
