Abordando o género como uma noção socialmente construída e reconhecendo a importância da socialização nesse processo de construção, este trabalho pretende compreender a dinâmica com a qual uma rapariga é confrontada ao escolher jogar futebol. Através de entrevistas semiestruturadas às quais se aplicou a análise de conteúdo e estabelecendo que o futebol é principalmente caracterizado como uma atividade masculina, entrevistaram-se três atletas federadas. Analisa-se a experiência no crescimento em relação ao futebol no contexto familiar e na escola; explora-se a perceção das entrevistadas sobre como as equipas femininas são tratadas pelos seus clubes em comparação com as equipas masculinas; e analisa-se a experiência de praticar um desporto socialmente associado aos homens.
Acknowledging gender as a social constructed notion and recognizing the importance of socialization in that constructing process, this work pretends to understand the dynamic that a girl is confronted with while choosing to play football. Using semi structured interviews to which content analysis is applied and establishing that football is mostly characterized as a male activity, three federate athletes were interviewed. The growing up experience is analysed in relation to football in a family context and at school; the interviewees’ perception of how women's teams are dealt with by their clubs in comparison with men's teams is explored; and their experience in practicing a sport that is socially associated with men is analysed.
