The result of an internship at Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, more precisely at the Gabinete dos Conteúdos Adaptados, and posterior analysis of the guidelines used by the company, this report aims to review the guidelines and suggest new solutions and improvements, and to implement these in the current guide in order for future translator/subtitlers. To this end, the trainee has focused, solely, on subtitling for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, and put together a selection of ideas and suggestions, which could be beneficial as much for translator/subtitlers, as for the target audience and the company itself. In doing so, the trainee hopes that these efforts will help to improve the company’s accessibility. As part of the trainee’s research into accessibility, several theoretical texts by specialists in the field of audiovisual translation, like Remael (2012), have been analyzed, as well as specialists from the field of subtitling for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, like Neves (2005). Through doing so, it became possible to draw conclusions from a comparison between the level of accessibility in subtitling for deaf and hard-of-hearing for RTP and the theoretical authors. By adding the trainee’s experience at the internship, these conclusions were converted into suggestions and improvements to update RTP’s guidelines. Keywords:
