No presente relatório será abordada a tradução jurídica, uma das maiores áreas de especialização no mundo da tradução, que traz consigo vários desafios, pois, para cada tipo de texto, cada par de línguas, cada regime jurídico e cada setor, há uma escolha a fazer sobre a melhor abordagem a tomar. Este relatório visa analisar as diferentes abordagens a vários tipos de textos, sistemas e as dificuldades de tradução jurídica na combinação de línguas pertinentes (Inglês para Português). Proporcionaremos ainda uma contextualização da tradução jurídica dentro dos estudos de tradução e das diferentes abordagens a tomar na tradução dos vários tipos de textos jurídicos, focando os consequentes desafios para os tradutores de se adaptarem a um mercado em mudanças constantes e de traduzirem textos em que é necessária mediação intercultural, com o objetivo de proporcionar aos tradutores uma ideia sobre como lidar com estes novos desafios.
This report will focus on legal translation, one of the largest fields of specialization in the world of translation, which entails many challenges, since, for every text-type, every language pair, every legal system and every sector, there are choices to be made about the best approach to take. This report aims to analyze the different approaches to different types of texts and systems and the difficulties of legal translation in the pertinent language combination (English to Portuguese). Additionally, this report will provide contextualization of legal translation within translation studies and of the different approaches to take while translating several types of legal texts, focusing on the subsequent challenges to translators of adapting to the constant changes of the translation market and translating texts that require intercultural mediation, with the objective of providing translators with an idea of how to deal with new challenges.
