Desvelando uma árvore na floresta editorial: relatório de estágio na Alêtheia Editores

O presente relatório retrata toda a atividade de relevo por mim exercida na empresa Alêtheia Editores, entre os dias 27 de agosto e 5 de novembro de 2018, enquanto estagiária, como parte integrante da componente não-letiva do mestrado em Edição de Texto. Desta forma exponho os eventos em que participei e as funções desempenhadas ao longo das diferentes etapas de pré-produção de um livro, como sejam digitalizações para OCR’s, limpeza de texto, produção de conteúdos, revisões, aprovação de ozalides, entre outras, com destaque para alguns projetos nos quais tive uma intervenção mais ativa e demorada. As obras trabalhadas correspondem predominantemente a livros de não-ficção ou a literatura infantojuvenil e são dirigidas não só para venda em livrarias sob a insígnia da Alêtheia, mas também e em grande parte para as suas chancelas, Sinapis e Ideia-Fixa, ou em acordo com outras empresas de maior dimensão com capacidade de vendas em estabelecimentos próprios ou mais variados, como o jornal Expresso, a empresa de retalho Sonae ou os CTT – Correios de Portugal. Além das relações da editora com estas firmas, descrevem-se ainda interações com outras que asseguram serviços de pré-produção, produção e pós-produção que ultrapassam as capacidades dos funcionários do escritório em Lisboa em termos de tempo, recursos técnico-informáticos ou conhecimentos, como o design, a paginação, a impressão e a distribuição.
The present report depicts all the activity exerted by me inside the company Alêtheia Editores, between the 27th of August and 5th of November of 2018, as an intern, as part of the non-theoretical component of the master’s degree in Text Editing. Thus, I expose the events in which I participated and the tasks undertaken along the different steps of pre-production of a book, may they be scanning for OCR’s, text cleaning, content production, revising, ozalids approval, among others, with special focus on projects that took me a more active and longer intervenience. The books I worked with were mostly non-fictional or children’s and these were directed not only for bookstores under the insignia of Alêtheia, but also and largely for its other brands, Sinapis and Ideia-Fixa, or as the result of an agreement with firms of bigger dimension with the capacity of selling in their own or in more varied establishments, like the newspaper Expresso, the retail company Sonae or the CTT – Correios de Portugal. Besides the relationship of the publisher with these firms, I also describe its interactions with others that ensure pre-production, production and post-production services that surpass the capability of the workers of the office in Lisbon in terms of time, technical or computer resources or knowledge, such as design, pagination, printing and distribution.
