A reflexão aqui presente nasceu
A partir dessas duas cidades,
“Terramoutorism” do Colectivo Left Hand Rotation; O espetáculo teatral “Esta É a
Minha Cidade e Eu Quero Viver Nela” da companhia Teatro do Vestido; e o trabalho
do colectivo Opavivará!.
This essay aims to establish a dialogue between the city and contemporary art, and to investigate the way in wich the artistic practices inside the city render themselves for the questioning and fictionalization of it's inherent formal, politic and discursive structures. The thesis here presented was organized around the investigation of language itself, and of it's respective discursive effects, searching to find ways to subvert the traditional modes of understanding, perceiving and acting in the city. We understand that reality is structured by language, based on that, we'll analyse means of intervention in the city that managed to subvert the normal. Fiction emerges as an attempt to atribute meaning to these detours. In other words, it opens other possibilities and reflections about reality. We propose to estabilish a parallel between the citys of Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro throughout the period that spans from 2008 to 2018, analyzing important political, economic and social landmarks from this period, and investigating artistical practices within the context of these two locations : the work of the artist Eleonora Fabião; the art i“Cota 10” by Júlio Parente and Pedro Varella; the “Terramoutorism” project, by Left Hand Rotation Colective; the “Esta É a Minha Cidade e Eu Quero Viver Nela” play by the Teatro do Vestido theatre company; and the work of the Opavivará! Art collective.
