O presente relatório resulta de um estágio de três meses – de Outubro a Dezembro
de 2017 – na secção de Ciência do jornal Público, sob a orientação no local da editora e
jornalista Teresa Firmino. Abordam-se os conceitos de jornalismo de ciência, de
comunicação de ciência e de divulgação científica, bem como se tenta retratar o percurso
do jornalismo de ciência em Portugal, a contribuição dos jornais nacionais mais
conhecidos e o perfil dos jornalistas da área. Além disso, expõe-se o lugar do espaço em
Portugal, a cobertura mediática das Ciências do Espaço no Público e a importância da
imaginação, da memória colectiva de ficção científica e de certos recursos da linguagem
para a escrita de histórias sobre ciência. Por último, analisa-se um inquérito elaborado
para avaliar a percepção dos potenciais leitores de jornalismo de ciência com interesse
nos campos de estudo do espaço.
This report is the result of a three-month internship – from October to December 2017 – in the Science section of the Portuguese newspaper Público, under the guidance of the editor and journalist Teresa Firmino. It discusses the concepts of science journalism, science communication and scientific dissemination, as well as attempts to portray the course of science journalism in Portugal, the contribution of the best-known national newspapers and the profile of the science journalists. It also presents the place of the Space in Portugal, the media coverage of Space Sciences in the Portuguese newspaper Público and the importance of the imagination, of the collective memory of science fiction and of certain resources of language for the writing of stories about science. Finally, it analyzes an inquiry designed to evaluate the perception of the potential readers of science journalism interested in Space Sciences.
