A Escrava Isaura (1875) , obra escrita por Bernardo Guimarães em pleno
período Colonialista no Brasil, conta a história de uma escrava branca que vem a ser
considerada mais bela e desejada do que qualquer outra Mulher do seu tempo.
Escrava Mãe (2016), uma telenovela brasileira da atualidade , narra por sua vez a história
da mãe de Isaura, durante a sua juventude . Contando o seu percuso para alcançar a
liberdade e o direito a amar um Homem de estatuto social diferente do seu.
A presente dissertação irá analisar as diferenças e semelhanças entre ambas as heroínas,
descodificando alguns dos mais bem ocultados preconceitos de uma cultura e época de
preconceito e segregação racial
The romantic literary work, A Escrava Isaura (1875), written by Bernardo Guimarães during the Brazilian Colonialism period, tells the story of a white slave, which becomes more powerful and desired than any other Woman of her time. Escrava Mãe (2016), a recent Brazilian soap opera, tells Isaura´s mother adventures, during her youth, in order to reach her freedom and right to love a different status Man. The present Master Degree dissertation will analyse the differences and similarities between these two heroines, decodifying some of the most well occulted thoughts from a racist culture and epoch.
