Na qualidade de historiador da cultura e da literatura, António José Saraiva realizou diversos estudos sobre a designada Geração de 70. Por intermédio dos seus escritos, pretendemos recuperar um conjunto de considerações que versam sobre as origens, a constituição e a evolução de uma geração de escritores e intelectuais que notabilizou o Portugal do século XIX; importa também perceber os contornos das ideias - e das suas variações – desta geração, atendendo às reflexões de Saraiva; ou ainda, considerar as aproximações ideológicas e temáticas entre Saraiva e a presente geração. {Abstract] As a culture and literature historian, António José Saraiva conducted several studies on the so-called Generation of 70. Through his writings, we intend to retrieve a set of considerations that deal with the origins, formation and evolution of a generation of writers and intellectuals who excelled in the 19th century Portugal; we shall also see the outlines of the ideas - and their variations – of this generation, meeting the Saraiva reflections; or, even considering the ideological and thematic similarities between Saraiva and the present generation.
