6.15% of GDP and 9.2% of employment in Portugal in 2016 (Eco, 2017), becoming one of the fastest growing and resilient economic sectors worldwide, namely in Portugal, helping the recovery of a fragile economy. Hospitality industry follows this trend and hotels seek for new markets to develop their potential. Senior tourism is one of these markets. The project aims to understand the importance of senior tourism for Vista Alegre Ílhavo Complex competitiveness within the geographical context of Aveiro region as a tourist destination. This work is based on a case study, collecting primary data through the application of a survey to visitors at Aveiro city center and Vista Alegre Ílhavo Complex. The analysis seeks to identify the profile of senior tourists in Aveiro region in order to draw some recommendations to Vista Alegre Ílhavo Complex management board regarding products, services and marketing strategies for the senior segment.
