Partindo da literatura existente, este artigo reflete sobre o tratamento que mereceu o problema da durabilidade do salazarismo nas ciências sociais, e em particular na historiografia. De seguida, equaciona-se de que modo as câmaras de representação política e orgânica do regime (a Assembleia Nacional e a Câmara Corporativa) foram associadas à estratégia de integração política seguida pelo Governo, no seu desígnio de estabilização do regime. Considera-se essa estratégia no quadro do projeto corporativo estatal. Assinalam-se os projetos diferenciados que existiram na classe política, bem como os seus significados, e verificam-se os procedimentos e as negociações que permitiram firmar soluções. Na sua diversidade, estes elementos permitem assinalar comportamentos na governação, mecanismos de funcionamento das instituições e da articulação entre poderes, que concorrem para melhor se compreender, porventura de forma mais complexa, como se estabilizou a ditadura. Starting from the existing literature, this article reflects on the treatment of the durability of Salazarism in the social sciences, and in particular in historiography. Next, it considers how the chambers of political and organic representation under Salazar (the National Assembly and the Corporate Chamber) were associated with the Government's strategy of political integration, in its aim of stabilizing the regime. This strategy is discussed within the framework of the state corporatist project. The differentiated projects that existed within the political class are highlighted, as well as its meanings and the procedures, practices and negotiations that permitted to forge policies. In their diversity, these elements allow us to point out behaviours in governance, mechanisms for the functioning of institutions and the articulation of powers, which contribute to a deeper understanding, perhaps in a more complex way, of how the dictatorship was stabilized.
