O presente trabalho de projecto pretende explorar a relevância teórica e prática
da variação linguística para a Tradutologia e para a prática da tradução. Pretende
também contribuir para a divulgação na comunidade académica lusófona da
problematização conceptual em torno da variação linguística levada a cabo no meio
germanófono, bem como discutir as suas possibilidades de transposição tradutória para
a língua portuguesa, variedade europeia.
Nele se descreve o processo tradutório da publicação em língua alemã
“Varietätenlinguistik”, em particular a análise do texto de partida relevante para tradução
segundo a proposta de Christiane Nord (1988). A análise factorial leva a prever-se a
obtenção de uma tradução instrumental de cariz equifuncional com o propósito de
cumprir as funções do TP no RC. Problematizando igualmente as traduções como
variedade da língua, este trabalho sugere para o TC uma crescente estandardização,
conservadorismo e menor criatividade que o TP e outros textos originais comparáveis na
LC, colocando o TC a obter, enquanto variedade, num contínuo variacional hipotético
entre o tradutorês e a invisibilidade do tradutor.
This project aims at exploring the theoretical and practical relevance of linguistic variation for translation studies and translation practice. It also aims at raising awareness of its conceptualization within German-speaking academia and also at discussing its translation possibilities into Portuguese, European variety. It describes the translation process of the German handbook “Varietätenlinguistik”, notably the translation-relevant source-text analysis according to Christiane Nord's (1988) approach. The factor analysis allows for predicting a target text that is an equifunctional, instrumental translation and that intends to transpose source-text functions to the target recipient. It also approaches translations as language varieties and suggests that the target text will exhibit growing standardization, conservatism and reduced creativity when compared to the source text and other comparable original texts within the target language. This places the prospective target text, as a variety, on a hypothetical variational continuum between translationese and the translator's invisibility.
