Este estudo tem como o tema a Antroponímia na Língua Oshikwanyama. A temática visou responder às seguintes questões: há uma harmonização gráfica dos antropónimos da língua Oshikwanyama na província do Cunene? Quais são as circunstâncias que orientam a atribuição dos antropónimos entre os Ovakwanyama? Quais são as causas da variação gráfica dos antropónimos em Oshikwanyama, no quadro sociolinguístico angolano? O principal objectivo é observar os factores e as circunstâncias da atribuição dos antropónimos na língua Oshikwanyama.
O Corpus de análise é composto por recolhas a partir de recursos fotográficos retirados dos livros do Cartório de Registos Civil e dos livros de registos de baptismo da Diocese de Ondjiva. Para se chegar às etimologias, definições e variações gráficas dos antropónimos foram distribuídas fichas antroponímicas de pesquisa e recorremos a entrevistas a pessoas conhecedoras desta língua e desta cultura.
O estudo limitou-se à língua do povo Ovakwanyama de Angola. Para determinar as circunstâncias da atribuição dos antropónimos deste grupo recorreu-se a entrevistas e a algumas obras que fazem a abordagem desta temática. Os resultados foram validados por quatro especialistas em linguística Oshikwanyama que, por sua vez, nos permitiram criar uma base de dados de antropónimos que se destina a um público vasto.
This study focuses on Anthroponyms in Oshikwanyama. Our intention was to answer the following questions: Is there any graphical standardization in anthroponyms in Oshikwanyama, a language spoken in the province of Cunene? What are the circumstances that guide the attribution of anthroponyms for the Ovakwanyama people? What are the causes for graphic variation of anthroponyms in Oshikwanyama in the Angolan sociolinguistic framework? Our main purpose was to observe the factors and the circumstances of the attribution of anthroponyms in Oshikwanyama. Our corpus of analysis is composed of photographic records taken both from the books of the General Register Office and the Baptism Register of the parish of Ondjiva. In order to arrive at etymologies, definitions and graphic variations of these anthroponyms, we distributed anthroponomical research forms and interviewed people who have deep knowledge of this language and culture. This study was limited to the language spoken by the Ovakwanyama people in Angola. To determine the circumstances of attribution of anthroponyms in this group we resorted to interviews and specific literature on this subject. Four experts in Oshikwanyama linguistics validated the results, and this has allowed us to create a database of anthroponyms targeted at a vast audience.
