O presente relatório de estágio incide sobre a presença das artes visuais na comunicação social portuguesa, tomando como exemplo o caso do jornal Público. Neste sentido, procura aliar a experiência de três meses de estágio na secção de cultura a uma reflexão crítica sobre a dimensão ocupada pela pintura, escultura, design, fotografia e arquitectura na secção relativamente às restantes expressões artísticas. Partindo de uma base teórica sobre o jornalismo cultural e as suas especificidades, é realizada uma análise aos artigos produzidos no site do jornal entre Junho e Agosto de 2016 (período em que decorreu o estágio a que este relatório diz respeito). O estudo tem por base a análise quantitativa sobre os temas e os géneros jornalísticos em causa e entrevistas aos jornalistas responsáveis por estes temas e a uma das editoras
This report aims to study the presence of visual arts in the portuguese media and is based on the case of daily newspaper Público. Therefore, it tries to tackle both the three-month internship experience in the culture section and a critical reflection on the way painting, sculpture, design, photography and architecture are covered in comparison to other art forms. Starting with a theoretical basis on cultural journalism and its specificities, the analysis refers to the articles published on Público’s website between June and August 2016 (the duration of the internship on this report). The study relies on the quantitative analysis of the covered topics and journalistic genres and interviews with journalists who write about visual arts and one of the culture editors.
