A peça-poema Morte e vida Severina de João Cabral de Melo Neto e Auto da Compadecida de Ariano Suassuna são objetos deste estudo. A análise a respeito dessas obras refere-se à construção da identidade cultural do nordeste do Brasil à luz da vertente literária.
Como se sabe, no panorama literário brasileiro a discussão acerca da identidade teve início com o movimento literário denominado romantismo. Essas questões foram intensificadas com o advento modernista.
Neste sentido, apresenta-se uma proposta de análise dos traços distintivos que sugerem a identidade cultural do nordeste nas supracitadas obras de João Cabral de Melo Neto e Ariano Suassuna, tornando o mister de estudar as representações dessa identidade e da identidade de si mesmo em relação às outras numa dialética constante.
Portanto, considera-se, sobretudo, os recursos lingüísticos, polifônicos, literários, relacionado-os a questões históricas,sociais e ideológicas.
In this work we present the play-poem “Death and Life” of Severina João de Melo Neto and “The Auto Compadecida of Ariano Suassuna” as the main objects of our study. We undergone an analysis on these two invaluable works, which refers to the construction of cultural identity of Northeastern Brazil, based on the current Literature. It is well-known in the brazilian literary scene that the discussion over issues regarding identity began with the literary movement known as Romanticism. These issues were intensified with the advent of modernism. Thoroughly, we attempted to present a proposal for analyzing the distinctive characteristics that suggest the cultural identity of the northeast in the above mentioned works of João Cabral de Melo Neto and Ariano Suassuna, turning to a constant dialect the studying of the representations of this identity and its own identity with close relation to the others. What is more, in this study, it is given more relevance to the linguistic resources, polyphonic resources and literary resources, relating them to historical, social and ideological issues.
