Population aging is a global phenomenon; the population living in our country has been suffering from an aging population that is expected to continue. Associated with the aging process, the likelihood of disease and sequel increases in the physical, psychic and social functions, often occurring situations commonly called "dementia", which are mental disorders that affect older adults in general. It is at this time of life, in the phase of aging, that one is confronted with significant losses; not only of people, but also with the loss of autonomy, and it is this loss of autonomy that normally leads to the institutionalization of the elderly, since they themselves are no longer able to perform the activities of daily life and in these times, families do not have time to help them. In view of the growing number of elderly people living in residential structures for the elderly, it is necessary to improve the nature of the homes and the existence of properly trained professionals to respond to the needs of the elderly population, with the primary objective of security and the general well-being of the elderly. In order to improve the well-being of the elderly with dementia living in homes, it is the presentation of a new concept of home that is proposed in this work, with support in the results of a qualitative study by interview to 6 elderly, both females and males, between the ages of 70 and 88 years. For a better understanding of the pathologies of the elderly and their needs of daily life, we also have the voices of two excellent people in the area of the elderly. In conclusion, the interviews conducted with the elderly revealed that going to a nursing home is not considered as a will or a desire.
