The present work aims to expose the work developed on Apordoc/Doclisboa curricular internship, inserted in the last semester of the Master in Communication Sciences - Specialization in Cinema and Television. For a better understanding of the activities undertaken in this context, a theoretical framework is presented at the beginning, in which the significance of the documentary movement in cinema is discussed, combining a historical perspective to better perceive its definition and consolidation since the dawn of cinema to the present day. Still within the theoretical framework, we tackle the topic of film festivals, reflecting on its history and importance to the broadcasting of contemporary independent cinema (in which documentary is incorporated), dissecting the dynamics that boost these cultural manifestations, as well as their intentions and motivations. Finally, a chapter is dedicated to the activities developed during the internship, discussing issues that have arisen in the practice of producing a film festival and linking them with the theoretical framework where appropriate, we ponder on the knowledge gained from such activities while pondering on their significance and relevance in a future work placement.
