A políticas educativas dos anos ‘80 vêm alterar as relações entre a família-escola, atribuindo maior poder de participação escolar às famílias, especialmente no que concerne à escolha da escola para os filhos no mercado educativo. Contudo, operam-se neste mercado desigualdades de selecção devido à desigual qualidade das escolas e aos desiguais recursos das famílias. Esta dissertação tem como objectivo perceber a escolha de colégios com educação diferenciada por género por parte das famílias.
The educational policies of the 80’s come change the relationship between family and school, giving more power to school participation for families, especially with regard to the school choice fo their children in educational market. However, there are inequalities of selection operating in this market due to schools’ uneven quality and families’ resources. This dissertation aims to understand families’choice of schools with single gender education.
