This thesis is based on the CEMS business project Evaluate opportunities in the German senior care market for Carlton Life. It focuses on the development of an optimal strategy for Carlton Life, a Portuguese senior care operator, to enter the German senior care market by attracting German seniors to Portugal in order to reach its ambitious growth objectives. The project was conducted in collaboration with Menlo Capital, a Portuguese private equity firm and minority shareholder of Carlton Life. A new business model is proposed that focuses on offering short-term stationary care in collaboration with hotel partners.
