Se a rádio e a cultura são sinérgicas, e se a cultura pop pode atuar como um estado
intermédio entre a alta e a baixa cultura, parece-nos fundamental pensar a rádio como um
fenómeno cultural popular. A primeira parte desta dissertação faz uma abordagem
introdutória aos conceitos relacionados com a cultura pop e procura ilustrar o movimento
interativo entre esta forma cultural e a rádio enquanto meio de comunicação. Se nas
décadas de 1960 e 1970, nos Estados Unidos da América, os géneros musicais permitiam
já a formação de subculturas e afirmavam a força da cultura da juventude, em Portugal o
boom do rock e a alteração massificada de comportamentos chegou mais tarde, à boleia
do que acontecia no resto do mundo.
Na segunda parte desta dissertação e depois de relacionarmos, à luz
das ciências da comunicação, alguns rasgos de teorias relativas ao estudo da rádio,
nomeadamente no que à teoria da interatividade radiofónica defendida por Bertolt Brecht
diz respeito, iremos estreitar o foco desta investigação e aplicá-la a dois programas de
rádio específicos. A partir de uma abordagem metodológica que tem por base a realização
de entrevistas, a segunda parte deste trabalho contextualiza historicamente a rádio
em Portugal e vai até dois programas de rádio em particular: o programa "Rock em
Stock", realizado por Luís Filipe Barros, de 1979, e o programa "Portugália", de Henrique
Amaro, surgido no ano de 2002. Os respetivos programas de rádio foram comparados à
luz do seu contexto e tendo em conta o respetivo momento da história da rádio.
Como conclusão, propomos a possibilidade dos programas de rádio que comparámos
agirem na construção da subjetividade dos ouvintes, através das várias sinergias
que concluímos existirem entre a rádio e a cultura pop.
O último ponto desta dissertação é dedicado às possibilidades da rádio do futuro,
assumindo como premissa a teoria da interatividade proposta por Brecht.
Considering radio and culture as a synergy and the liability of pop culture acting as an intermediate level between high and low culture, it seems fundamental to us to regard radio as a popular, cultural phenomenon. On the first part of this dissertation there is a preliminary approach to the concepts related to the pop culture and it attempts to picture the synergistic movement between this cultural form and the radio, as a means of communication. On the second part of this thesis and after some approaches to the theories related to the study of radio as seen by the communication sciences, namely those concerning the interaction within the radio supported by Berthold Brecht, we are going to look at the focus of this investigation and enforce it to two specific portuguese radio shows, with a methodical approach based on interviews: “Rock em Stock”, directed by Luís Filipe Barros in 1979 and “Portugália”, directed by Henrique Amaro in 2002. Their respective radio programmes were compared in terms of context and bearing in mind their respective juncture in the history of portuguese radio. Finally, this dissertation proposes the possibility of the compared radio shows act in the building of the listener’s self-development through various synergies that we concluded existing between radio and pop culture. We also write about the future radio’s possibilities, taking for granted as a premise the theory of the interaction proposed by Brecht.
