Num mundo globalizado, a Comunidade Internacional é uma realidade cada vez mais influente, pois as decisões estratégicas são tomadas pelas instituições internacionais. O presente trabalho refere-se, sobretudo, ao papel dos países ricos em termos da disponibilidade dos seus recursos em prol do desenvolvimento dos menos favorecidos economicamente, como é o caso da República da Guiné-Bissau, que tem recebido importantes ajudas da cooperação internacional, particularmente da União Europeia para acelerar o seu desenvolvimento económico.
A República da Guiné-Bissau tem sido devastada por conflitos internos de natureza político-militar durante décadas, com a consequente instabilidade generalizada ao longo da sua história. Assim sendo, e na sequência do exposto anteriormente, o país necessita da ajuda internacional para ultrapassar os problemas que estão por trás da referida perturbação na governação das instituições do Estado.
O objeto desta tese é a Cooperação entre a União Europeia e a República da Guiné-Bissau. Com isto, pretende-se avaliar as consequências, o valor estratégico e contributo dessa cooperação no processo de desenvolvimento socioeconómico e político do país.
In a globalized world, the international community is increasingly influential in the design of the reality. This influence refers primarily to the role of rich countries in terms of the availability of its resources for the development of economically disadvantaged countries. This is the case with Guinea-Bissau Republic, which has received substantial aid of international cooperation, particularly from the European Union in order to accelerate its economic development. It is true that the Republic of Guinea-Bissau has been ravaged by internal conflicts of political and military nature, for decades, with consequent widespread instability throughout its history. Thus, following the above mentioned, the country needs international aid to overcome the problems behind these disturbances in the governance of state institutions. The object of this thesis is the cooperation between the European Union and Guinea-Bissau Republic. It is intended to evaluate the consequences, the strategic value and contribution of such cooperation in the socio-economic and political development process of the country.
