Sports journalism is one of the most popular journalistic specializations in Portugal. Based on a three-month curricular internship at the sports daily Record, the research carried out in this report starts from the premise confirmed in various studies, in which it is found that football is the sport with the most prominence in the national sports press. As there are few studies that shed light on which non-football sports receive the most coverage in Record and A Bola, the sections dedicated exclusively to non-football sports in these two Lisbon-based sports dailies were analyzed in order to fill this gap. I used quantitative content analysis as the main methodology in this study, and afterwards made a comparison between the results obtained in the two newspapers. Between 11 August, 2023 and May 18, 2024, 36 days were analyzed, totaling 72 editions. The results showed that basketball and handball were the non-football sports with the greatest representation in A Bola and Record.
