O debate sobre o aborto voluntário é um tópico de discussão em Portugal e no
mundo. Nesta dissertação analisaremos de que forma a argumentação de natureza científica é utilizada na discussão parlamentar sobre o aborto voluntário na VII, X e XVI
Legislatura, através da análise temática de conteúdos. Os resultados obtidos demonstram
uma utilização abusiva da ciência com o intuito de sustentar posições morais e éticas e
alertam para a necessidade de reforçar a relação entre a ciência e o parlamento.
The debate on voluntary abortion is a topic of discussion in Portugal and around the world. In this dissertation, we will analyse how scientific arguments are used in parliamentary discussions on voluntary abortion during the VII, X, and XVI Legislatures, through thematic content analysis. The results obtained show an abusive use of science to support moral and ethical positions and highlight the need to strengthen the relationship between science and parliament.
