O presente trabalho materializa o produto de um estágio curricular de final de mestrado
na Gato-Bravo, editora de livros luso-brasileira. O relatório exibido alia a caracterização
do estágio à variação da língua portuguesa, por intermédio das tarefas de revisão de textos
portugueses e brasileiros realizadas no departamento editorial da instituição de
acolhimento, e divide-se em três estádios fundamentais. No primeiro, apresenta-se a
editora e as metas do estágio. No segundo, faculta-se uma contextualização teórica sobre
a variação linguística e o português do Brasil. No terceiro, providencia-se o relato das
atividades desenvolvidas no estágio, relacionando-as com os conhecimentos adquiridos
na componente letiva do mestrado. A descrição das atividades é direcionada para a
exposição de problemas, sobretudo linguísticos, detetados nos livros revistos e para a
recolha de conclusões sobre a profissão de revisor.
This work constitutes the outcome of a curricular internship carried out at the end of a master’s degree at Gato-Bravo, a Portuguese-Brazilian publishing house. The report presented combines the characterisation of the internship with the examination of variation within the Portuguese language, based on the tasks of proofreading of both Portuguese and Brazilian texts carried out in the editorial department of the host institution, and it is divided into three key stages. The first introduces the publishing house and outlines the goals of the internship. The second provides a theoretical contextualisation on linguistic variation and Brazilian Portuguese. The third section offers an account of the activities carried out during the internship, linking them to the knowledge acquired during the academic component of the master’s programme. The description of these activities focuses on exposing the problems, mainly linguistic, identified in the proofread books, and drawing conclusions about the role of the proofreader.
