Resumo: This master thesis addresses plastic pollution, the housing crisis, and the carbon-intensive construction industry by exploring recycled plastic building blocks as a sustainable alternative to traditional materials like concrete. Transforming low-quality plastic waste into durable components reduces CO₂ emissions and creates affordable housing opportunities. Prototype tests at FABLab Lisboa confirmed the feasibility of this approach, while market analysis highlights strong economic potential in high-waste, high-demand regions. Future steps include material certifications, production optimization, and pilot projects. This work establishes a foundation for integrating recycled plastics into construction, promoting sustainability, innovation, and scalable solutions for global environmental and social challenges.
