Even though Virtual Assistants have been developing for over seventy years, this study
identified significant untapped potential in this technology. Amidst the rise of Generative
Artificial Intelligence, today’s society poses an opportunity to enhance Virtual Assistants, in
terms of technical capabilities and applications. The goal of this thesis is to assess the use of
Virtual Assistants in the personal and professional realms focusing on their applicability for
life-threatening and non-life-threatening professions. The findings suggest that awareness of
functionalities and trust are crucial for adoption, with non-life-threatening professions showing
more openness towards the use of this technology compared to life-threatening ones.
