Our challenge is to use songs in language learning, beyond the usual practice developed in the classroom, and to succeed in developing a team project in interaction with the community. In the first part, we present some theoretical research about the wide range of both knowledge and competences that we get from exploring songs, presenting the advantages of including songs in the sample of authentic documents we explore in our lessons, using the Common European Framework of Reference and the national language programmes as sources. We emphasize such contributions as motivation and pleasure in learning, the development of several competences, through a course starting in comprehension and ending in production, and sociocultural knowledge. Furthermore, we show the reasons behind the option for a project work, developed within a multidisciplinary team with the objective of transforming the students in real social actors. The step of describing the strategies we developed and the activities we suggested shows the path we followed: the students became familiar with this kind of methodology, in which the know-how is valued, and they were lead to an active attitude towards their own learning. The best evidence of all this was a final show. Finally, we make a review of this journey and we try to sow some seeds to ensure its continuity. KEYWORDS: Song, Foreign Language, Multidisciplinary, Motivation, Competences, Know-how.
