From the analysis of several studies about lexicon Brazilian Portuguese, it turns out that the contact between the Portuguese, African and indigenous people caused significant changes in the lexicon and the Brazilian pronunciation. In this work it will be important to demonstrate that the enrichment of the Portuguese language is also due to “Brazilianisms” in Portuguese dictionaries because new words have been added due to the discovery of new Brazilian species of flora and fauna. In addition, many words have arisen in the context of Brazilian slavery and remain in dictionaries and Brazilian customs. The Brazil inherited traits of African culture and many words that gave style to dances, dishes used in religious offerings, musical instruments, legends, rivers, mountains, valleys and cities of some Brazilian states. In this thesis special importance was given to the existing names of regions in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.
