The aim of this research is to define structures and processes that allow the creation of an IoT related
Center of Excellence and to reflect how existing structures (in the form of an IoT Virtual Community)
could be transferred into that CoE. To achieve this and to put associated findings into a consolidated
construct, a process-oriented framework is being created that aims at integrating those two key
dimensions of development. On a generalized level this research also emphasizes on how corporate
innovation and change can be achieved in an environment that is being strongly influenced by
disruptive elements like the advent of IoT related technologies, and what companies can do to create
an expertise driven competitive advantage in regard to such industry shaping developments.
