O repinte geral do
The present study addresses the theme of chromatic reintegration in easel painting, with emphasis on the technique of mimetic reintegration chosen for the work Two Saint and One Saint. This painting is in oil on wood from the sixteenth century, belonging to the collection of the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga and was in a reasonable state of conservation, with the pictorial surface almost completely repainted and with structural problems in the support. The general repainting of the sky was a major challenge, raising questions about its removal. This study stands out for addressing the material and immaterial issues of the work, allowing a critical reflection on its ideal state, which would better inform the discussion about the ap- proach to follow. Additionally, it was possible to enrich the study in its practical aspect by making mock-ups, creating familiarity with mimetic reintegration and different materials. With this, it was possible to obtain practical examples that help conservators-restorers in the choice of materials in this stage of conservation. There was also the opportunity to intervene in another case study using the same technique. Although it has not yet been possible to chro- matically reintegrate the painting Two Saints and One Saint, it was possible to compare between the specific bibliography of the theme and what is done in practice.
