distintas tradições filosóficas – a filosofia continental e a filosofia analítica,
respetivamente.
The thesis revolves around the question of “sense” in Deleuze (sens) and Wittgenstein (Sinn), authors with a distinct way of doing philosophy, commonly representing two distinct philosophical traditions – continental philosophy and analytical philosophy, respectively. The main aim is to analyse the differences between their conceptions of language, looking at the same time for common aspects between them, and indirectly alluding to an approximation, as much as possible, of the two traditions of philosophy and their methodologies. The main body of the dissertation focuses on the analysis that Deleuze carries out in the Logic of Sense of schizophrenic language, especially that of Antonin Artaud, and on the application that authors such as Louis Sass made of Wittgenstein’s idea of solipsism to cases of schizophrenia like that of Daniel Paul Schreber. Based on the sense of the language of schizophrenia, we study a possible parallel between the thoughts of Deleuze and Wittgenstein. We conclude that not only the study of sense and nonsense when considered in opposition is limited, but also that, contrary to what is usually defended, the thinking of these two authors is not incompatible.
