This explorative study investigates how AI engagement influences the valuation of German
listed companies, measured through Tobin's Q. Panel data from 160 firms across the DAX,
MDAX, and SDAX indices (2017–2023) is analyzed using 5 regression models. The results
show a negative impact of AI Methods on Tobin's Q. These findings suggest that while AI
adoption is conceptually promising, current implementations fail to deliver anticipated valua tion benefits or attract sufficient investor confidence regarding future value creation.
