This academic thesis explores how BPI can adapt its offerings to meet the needs of Portugal’s
growing digital nomad community. By analyzing the banking landscape and mapping the customer
journey based on empirical data, key financial and non-financial needs and pain points were
identified, shaping the proposal for a tailored digital ecosystem. However, financial analysis
revealed that exclusively targeting digital nomads is not a viable strategy for incumbent banks.
Instead, enhancing offerings for foreign clients to address shared needs presents a more practical
and sustainable approach, balancing feasibility with value deliver.
